Desktop Publishing Arrives on Your PC!

Enable the Paragraph Tagging function (second function from the left).
Tag the paragraph above as a Headline 1. Then tag is as Headline
2, and Headline 3.

Tag the next paragraph as a Sub Head 1. Then tag it as a Sub Head
2, and Sub Head 3.

Tagging Makes Publishing Easy

Each Tag you assign changes the text attributes for the entire paragraph.
For instance, you can take the following list of features, and tag
each one with the Bullet Tag. (If you want to tag them all at once,
press and hold the shift key, then select each paragraph. Release
the shift key and then select the Bullet Tag).

WYSIWYG

DTP can print many characters not available to wordprocessor users,
including:

Greek symbols: (e.g. <F128>p, g, e, m, W<F255>)

Mathematical symbols: (e.g. <F128><133>, <155>, <170><F255>)

Typographic symbols: (e.g. <195>, <191>, <169>)

Foreign characters: (e.g. <153>, <130>, <156>, <165>)

These characters are entered by holding the ALT key and then typing
the numerical equivalent of the character on the keyboard numeric
keypad. For instance to type a copyright symbol (<189>), hold the
ALT key, type 189 and release the ALT key.

Select the Text Editing function (third function from the right),
and insert a copyright symbol anywhere in this paragraph.

You can force lines to end prematurely, without creating a new paragraph.
Press and hold the Ctrl key and the press the <<Enter>> key. This creates
the following effect:

This is a line<R>
but this is another line,<R>
and yet all four lines<R>
are part of the same paragraph.

This is very useful for tables, headings.

You can also select text and shift it horizontally to the left. This
is known as kerning. To see the effects of kerning, select the Paragraph
Tagging function and tag the following paragraph as a Headline 1.

Simple tables can be quickly formatted using the tab key, and selecting
a paragraph Tag which sets the tab stops. Tag each paragraph below
with the Table Tag.

Widget 1	283.23	287.34	295.99

Widget 2	1256.55	1289.55	1301.11

Widget 3	34.33	52.97	110.11

You can automatically number paragraphs in your manual. For instance,
this style sheet has Auto-Numbering turned on for the Tags called
Number Head 1, and Number Head 2. Select several paragraphs and tag
them with Number Head 1 and Number Head 2. Then, select Renumber
Chapter in the Page Menu. If you later re-Tag these paragraphs, select
Renumber Chapter to remove the section number.

Paragraph Tag names can be assigned to special function keys. In
this style sheet, the special function keys are assigned as follows
(tag each item in the list below as a Bullet in order to make them
more readable):

F1	Headline 1

F2	Sub Head 2

F3	Headline 2

F4	Sub Head 2

F5	Headline 3

F6	Sub Head 3

F7	Bullet

F8	Table

F9	First Paragrh

F10	Body Text

Experiment with the text in the remainder of this short chapter. Add
and delete text; cut, copy, and paste text; try different paragraph
Tags, and so on. When finished, try Opening other chapters contained
in the TYPESET directory. Have fun!

<MI>Insight magazine<D> caught up with Ken Jones, President and COO
of Acme Corporation, for a few minutes between meetings Thursday at
the convention center.

INSIGHT: What do you hope this year's conference will achieve?

KEN Jones: Cohesiveness and togetherness in the Acme network. I'd
like franchisees to come away with an understanding of our long-term
strategy and how we can all be strong together.
