SYMPHONY SCREEN 1

Select the Translate Option from the Symphony Access Main Menu

SYMPHONY SCREEN 2

Then select DIF to WRK

SYMPHONY SCREEN 3

Tell Symphony where to look for the files

SYMPHONY SCREEN 4

Symphony will display all .DIF files on that directory. Select PAYLOTUS.DIF

SYMPHONY SCREEN 5

Tell Symphony where to write its output worksheet file

SYMPHONY SCREEN 6

... and how you want the translation done. We find that RowWise gives a
nicer looking spreadsheet which closely resembles our printed Payroll
Register.

SYMPHONY SCREEN 7

Confirm that you want it translated

SYMPHONY SCREEN 8

.... and Symphony does the job.

SYMPHONY SCREEN 9

We are finished with the translate so select Exit.

SYMPHONY SCREEN 10

Confirm you really want to Exit

SYMPHONY SCREEN 11

Run Symphony and Retrieve the newly created (by Symphony Translate Utility)
PAYLOTUS.WRK file in your normal way.

SYMPHONY SCREEN 12

Symphony displays the file, which does not yet look quite right because the
width and format settings have not been set. Change the settings for the
entire worksheet to Column Width 15, Format Fixed - 2 Decimals. You may also
wish to change the Format setting for individual cells containing hours and
UIC Pay Period Exception to Fixed - 4 Decimals. Titles can be locked.

SYMPHONY SCREEN 13

The worksheet should look like this when you have done that, it is now far
more legible.

We will just page down the worksheet to show you how it looks

SYMPHONY SCREEN 14

Another page .....

SYMPHONY SCREEN 15

and another ...

SYMPHONY SCREEN 16

... more

SYMPHONY SCREEN 17

... the last page. Re-save the worksheet when you are done to preserve the
column width and format changes you have made. It is now exactly the same as
if you had keyed it in the hard way, and all Symphony functions are available
to work with it.
