       INSTALLATION
              HARD DISK: RUN HBRANDFI
              DUAL FLOPPY: RUN FBRANDFI

To install this product you must have a branding
number and branding key. These must be typed
exactly. If you make a mistake use ^C to abort and
              reenter the numbers.

If the file CONFIG.SYS does not exist, create it,
else, update it. Set FILES=20 BUFFERS=8. These are
the minimum numbers you need. If they are already
              greater, then leave them.

MOVING TEXT: ONE PAGE TO ANOTHER ^N
The feature ^N does not work. You must remove a
line from a page, return to the top menu, then add
it to another page. There is no present fix from
the vendor. MS-DOS 3.1 clears this problem.

       PROGRAM LOCKS UP
While working in SCHEMA & FORM DESIGN, hitting the
wrong keys sometimes causes the program to lock up
and the message NOT READY ERROR WRITING DEVICE PRN
appears. This is due to not having a printer
attached at the time. If you have a printer
attached this will not happen. If you don't, you
may have to reboot to regain control of the
keyboard, and you lose all your changes, and in
              some cases, the whole file.

       ERROR 17
This is an undocumented error which apparently
appears when FILE-IT can't find the proper files
              to complete the task.

Check the path set so FILE-IT will look to both
drives to find its files. Have the customer call
FILE-IT from the drive that holds the disk they
wish to save their data on. It is in the book!

SETTING UP A DATABASE PAGE 30
Paragraph 3 refers to ^C to return to the menu.
You should use a CR first to save your data
              before returning to the menu.

       DATABASE SHOWS NO FILES
If you enter the database name in CAPITALS,
FILE-IT does a peculiar thing with the files.
Normally, if you enter the database name in lower
case, the database name appears in CAPITALS and
the file names appear in lower case. When you use
CAPITALS for the database name, FILE-IT creates
the database and the first file both in capitals.
Subsequently, when you enter FILE-IT, after
displaying the database menu, it will not display
the normal file menu. In order to create more
files in this database you will have to use the
utility menu, select DATABASE, select the database
you want. It will return you to the utilities
menu. Select FILE from the menu and it will
display the normal file menu. You can now create
new files in this database. Once a second file is
created, the problem is no more.

RDS is aware of this condition. They say it has
to do with how FILE-IT searches for files. The
work around described above does solve the
              problem. There is no fix.
