HP Server Agents 5.53 (hpnrsnmp.dll patch) Readme

This document provides the description of the patch provided for HP Server Agents v 5.53. The patch will address the SNMP Application error on an HP Server that has NetRAID controllers / devices configured.
This Patch is applicable for HP Servers that have version 5.53 of HP Server Agents and Windows NT 4.0.

1.  Problem Description
-----------------------

On HP Servers that have 1M, 2M, 3Si NetRAID controllers / devices configured and HP Server Agents v 5.53 installed, a Dr. Watson and / or a SNMP application error may occur. The problem is the result of a memory leak in the NetRAID Agent (hpnrsnmp.dll). This patch contains the hpnrsnmp.dll with the memory leak fixed.

2. Patch Installation Notes

To install the patch perform the following steps:
1. Download the zip file from the HP web site.
2. Stop the SNMP Service (see below for steps to stop SNMP Service).
3. Copy the hpnrsnmp.dll to the %systemroot%\hpserver directory. E.g., C:\Winnt\hpserver\hpnrsnmp.dll
4. Start the SNMP Service (see below for steps to start SNMP Service).

The patch has been applied.

Steps for stopping SNMP Service

Windows NT
a) From the Start button select Settings | Control Panel.
b) Double Click on the Services icon.
c) Select the 'SNMP' service. If the status is 'Started' click on the Stop button.
d) Select Yes in the next message box.

The SNMP Service is now stopped.

Steps for starting SNMP Service
-------------------------------

Windows NT
a) From the Start button select Settings | Control Panel.
b) Double Click on Services icon.
c) Select the 'SNMP' service. Click on Start button.
d) Select Yes in the next message box.

The SNMP Service is now started.
