I assume that this diskette fits into drive A: on your computer and you can extract to drive B:. Place this diskette in drive A: and place a blank, formatted diskette in drive B:. Then type B: A:UNARJ E A:VARUG03B. By '' I mean a press of your or key. You will then have V3N6ASC.ASC on drive B:. V3N6ASC.ASC is a text file in ASCII form and may be viewed on screen, loaded into a word processing program, or printed on paper. If you have a hard disk named 'C:' and you wish to extract (say) to subdirectory C:\NEWS, then instead of B: you should type C: CD \NEWS. Next you must type, as before, A:UNARJ E A:VARUG03B. Use the same procedure to extract from the other .ARJ files. The diskette in drive B: need not be completely blank as long as there is enough space for all files in the .ARJ archive being considered. About 200 000 characters of free space suffices for the contents of any one .ARJ archive. You can get a summary of UNARJ's commands by typing A:UNARJ. To extract the complete contents of the UNARJ230.EXE archive, place this diskette in drive A: and have a diskette with 120 000 characters of free space in drive B:. Then type A:UNARJ230 B:. When you are asked whether to continue, type Y. To extract to hard disk subdirectory C:\NEWS, substitute 'C:\NEWS' for 'B:' in the preceding procedure. To get a copy on paper of V3N6ASC.ASC (or any other text file), have your printer ready and set up for elite type (12 characters per inch or 4.7 per centimetre). Then type COPY V3N6ASC.ASC PRN. You can view a text file on screen with the built-in MS-DOS command 'TYPE', but it does not allow paging back and forth. For more versatility, use one of the versions of BROWSE supplied. BROWSE0.COM is the original PC Magazine utility and is designed for computers which use screen controls like those of an IBM PC. BROWSE.COM is an adaptation of BROWSE0.COM to the DEC Rainbow. Pick the version which suits your computer. To view V3N6ASC.ASC on a Rainbow, type A:BROWSE B:V3N6ASC.ASC, use the , , and arrow keys to go through the document.
