It's not an MS-DOS limit, it's a FAT16 limit. Applies to all OSs using
FAT16. FAT32 supports unlimited entries in the root dir. You could use
MS-DOS 7.1, extracted from Win95OSR2 or later, or a recent version of
DR-DOS or maybe even FreeDOS.
