Yes you can.  RLL drives work just fine with MFM controllers.  The only 
"problem" is that you end up with only 2/3 of the stated data space.

FM, MFM, and RLL are all just encoding techniques.  RLL is a more efficient 
encoding method than MFM just as MFM is more efficient method than FM.
