I forgot to mention:

While I believe that a "modern" inverter will work for these three projects 
I do not claim that is always the case.

It would be great to have an online source for RTL specs, like most people I 
have no RTL docs.

I based my opinion of using a TTL chip in place of RTL on the schematics and 
timing diagrams.  In this case I believe that TTL would work OK.
