okay, I will confess... born 1953 and built my first "small"computer out of
telephone relays in 65. I designed and built a four bit counter out of
discrete parts in 1967. Started programming in 1967 on a Monroe desktop
scientific calculator that used mark sense type cards for program input and
nixies for output (I bought one of them a few years ago on eBay that works
perfectly). Designed my first 8080 based microprocessor system in 1976 and
finally bought a Northstar Horizon in 1978. I designed hardware and wrote
software on it while I worked for Applied Microsystems and designed
in-circuit emulators. I had Intel's ISIS system running on the Northstar
also... Bought a minimal IBM PC in 1982 and have used a variation of the PC
since (currently it is a 2.2GHz Pentium 4). I have worked for Attachmate
and done development on 3270 products. I have worked for Traveling Software
and done program development on Laplink. I have worked for Intermec and
developed wireless access points and been on the IEEE 802.11b standards
group. I currently do hardware and software development for the feds using
Microchip cpus, Xilinx CPLDs and FPGAs, and whatever else is needed for a
particular project.
