TIFF file formats, errors...

I've got some .tiff files I can't seem to read that other people can.
I'm trying to use the netpbm tools (unix) with no luck.

tifftopnm says

unknown field with tag 32934 (0x80a6) encountered

GIMP gags too, giving me a similar error repeated 139 times. The
tif apparently has 139 pages in it, I nevva hoida dat.

Any ideas how I handle these files? I don't have any
smackintoshes or peecees.
