LOL quite romantic, I like it. 

Taiwan....  The reality is a medium size company in a large industrial
area with no pollution controls, very low wages and few safety
conditions. My ex partner visited the places we once sold scrap to.

I prefer to buy local (USA) too.  But it is hard to compete with this.
I think it is a race to the bottom, with cost the all deciding factor
(led by WalMart's dictates).
