I will agree that _I_ couldn't care less about the box (cardboard boxes 
aren't suitable devices to attack with a 'scope :-)), but I appreciate 
there are people who do.

Thereofore if I was selling something and had the original box, I would 
ask the buyer if he cared about the box, and if he did, I would try to 
get it to him in an undamaged date (e.g. I would not stick new labels all 
over it).

As another example, a few years back I was given an HP33C calculator with 
AC adapter, manuals and the box. Now, I wanted to use the machine, so I 
kept all but the box, but I found somebody at HPCC (UK HP calculator user 
club) who actually collects boxes, etc, and gave it to him. Seemed more 
sensible than throwing it out.
