It's true, we are. The PIC and it's embeddable products, along
with software like MAX/MSP are making a big revolution in
"end-user" making of things (not sure if a lot of it is quite
hackish but its' heading that way).
It's more assembling of subassemblies, and not always delving into
the innards "like we do" but it's results-oriented, and the
VLSI-cookie-glued-to-a-board is normal to the kids who grew up
with this stuff (not our stuff).
