I once nearly appeared on TV, I got out of it just in time. It turned out
they were making a programme about Sir Clive Sinclair, and had found me
(I believe on this list) as somebody who didn't much care for his
designs. That much is true (and I don't want to start a flamewar over
that again...)
Anyway, it turned out that they didn't want me (as they'd initially
implied) to present information on machines I considered superior, they
wanted me, effectively, to flame him on-air. That, IMHO, does nobody any
good...
But that wasn't the real problem. It was their contract (which
fortunately I got to see before wasting any time on it). Apparently they
had the right to edit anything I said, and I would agree not to sue them
for libel, miorepresentation, etc. Anyone who agrees to something like
that has at least one screw loose!
