I have the HP datasheet ("Models 1630A/D/G Logic Analyzer," 5953-3939, 
April 1984), and it says that the 1630G can be configured for 65 state, 8 
timing, or 8 timing + 57 state.  Looks like the "D" was the only one with 
16-channel timing capability.
