I've used register4less.com for quite a while with no issues. I've also used
godaddy.com which is significantly cheaper, but they try real hard to get
you to "upgrade" to their premium services. Their registration process is a
pain because you have to go through all their dumb prompts trying to get you
to upgrade. But the price is right.
I used to use granitecanyon.com for free DNS services, but their service
became very unreliable all of a sudden. Now I use xname.org with no problems
at all. I host 5 domains on my web server that are registered through
register4less.com or godaddy.com and the DNS for all of them is from
xname.org
