July 23, 1963 MEMORANDUM TO: Users of 1401 Autocoder System SUBJECT: 1401 Autocoder System, Program #1401-AU-037, Version 3, Modification Level 7 This modification letter has been prepared for distribution to all users of the 1401 Autocoder System and contains changes to Version 3, Modification Level 6 of that system. The following additional minor restrictions are in effect with regard to the use of 1401 Autocoder: 1. Group mark and Tape mark literals will not be correctly assembled within the same overlay or program section. We suggest that group mark literals be declared as DCWs. 2. Negative address adjustment below zero will not be assembled correctly; i.e., there is no "wrap-around" effect in address adjustment. 3. Blank origins following DAs may not be assembled correctly. 4. Comments cards appearing between the CTL and DIOCS cards will cause assembly errors during reassembly and regeneration of IOCS. 5. When re-assembling with alterations, insertion of instructions or constants immediately following sequence number 103 will not be assembled correctly. 1401-AU-037, Version 3, Modification Level 7 Page 2 6. CALL or INCLD in col. 16-19 and 16-20, respectively, of a comments card (* in col. 6) will cause errors in assembly if these comments cards are macro model statements. 7. * in the B operand of modify address instructions will not be assembled correctly if the modify address macro must be used. Also note that the arithmetic overflow latch is turned on during the execution of the clear storage cards, and is not reset before the start of program execution. Enclosed is a copy of the new Operating Procedures bulletin, form C24-3104-0 and flow charts which will replace the existing library write-up with the exception of the previous modification letters. Continued reporting of any difficulties encountered in using 1401 Autocoder will be appreciated. GP Applied Programming Attachments cc: Branch Offices
