UPDATING DIRECTORIES OF YOUR FLOPPY DISKS ========================================= A program has been written which will enable you to automatically update a file on your disk called DIR.TAG This file can be `tagged' by you so that you have a record of what in each file. 1. The following files must be on your system disk:- UPDATE.SAV UPDATE.COM INIT.COM DIR.DAT 2. Also the file DIR.TAG must be on each of your disks. If you type :- @PD0:INIT to initialise a new disk, this command will automatically copy the file DIR.TAG to your disk. As usual you will be asked `are you sure ?' to which you will reply Y. You will also be asked for a volume number and the owner of the disk. I suggest you type an identification number and then either your name you that of your department. eg. Vol Id? #101____ Owner name? Hansard_______ 3. To use this updating procedure, all you need to do is type :- @PD0:UPDATE The UPDATE program will then display the name of any new file and allow you to add a short comment describing it. Just press return if you do not wish to add a comment.
