*A If the cloaking device has been activated, the 'A' command deactivates it. % *FA 'FA' activates the cloaking device if the ship is not currently cloaked. While cloaked, other ships' sensors will not find the cloaked ship, nor will homing torpedoes find the ship. If a cloaked ship fires a weapon, that ship becomes visible during the firing sequence, then cloaks again. % *LS 'LS' locates any given starship other than yourself. The command will prompt you for the ship to scan for. The target ship must be in the same universe as the ship doing the scanning. Not allowed if scanners are damaged. % *LB 'LB' locates the nearest friendly starbase for you in the current universe, giving an intercept course and distance to the base. Not allowed if scanners are damaged. % *LE 'LE' locates the nearest enemy starbase in the current universe, giving an intercept course and distance to the base. Not allowed if scanners are damaged. % *LF 'LF' locates the freighter belonging to the ship in the current universe, provided the owner has launched a freighter. The distance from and course to the freighter are given. % *E This command allows the user to get the status of all active starbases in the current universe. The information given includes the base number, the X and Y coordinates of the base, and the shield energy remaining for the base. % *TR The 'TR' command invokes the tractor beams on the ship prompted for. The target ship must be in the same universe as the ship doing the tractoring. If the target ship fades, tractor beams become ineffective. Issuing a second TR command if tractor beams are active deactivates tractor beams. % *FR The 'FR' command launches a freighter from a starbase in the current universe to another starbase in the same universe. A freighter is used to carry a specified shield load from the launching base to the destination base. Only one freighter per player may be active in each universe. % *C 'C' allows you to input or change the current course of your ship. If homing is active, 'C' will deactivate and override it. % *W 'W' allows you to input or change the current warp speed of your ship. If the warp engines take more than 50% damage, maximum speed will be that of impulse engines, or warp .2. % *H The 'H' command allows the user to change the default hyperspace port number and universe setting for his ship. % *TO 'TO' fires a photon torpedo, according to the course entered in response to the COURSE: prompt. % *K 'K' fires a homing torpedo, according to the number of the ship input in response to the FREQUENCY prompt. The target ship must not be cloaked, and it must be in the same universe as the ship which fires the torpedo. % *Z 'Z' launches the anti-matter pod carried by your ship. The course is prompted for. Anti-matter pods may be used to destroy black holes. % *N 'N' freezes (stops travel of) an anti-matter pod launched by you. % *X 'X' explodes any active anti-matter pod launched by you. % *P 'P' fires the ship's phasers, according to a course prompted for. % *D The 'D' command is used to direct a specified amount of phaser energy along a specified course. This command may be used to destroy a ship, a starbase, or a black hole. % *O 'O' activates the homing device in your ship, allowing your ship to follow any other ship. Note that this causes energy to be depleted more rapidly than just normal travel. The ship being homed on must not be cloaked, and must be in the same universe as the homing ship. Entering 'O' when homing is active causes homing to be deactivated. % *M 'M' allows you to send a message to any other ship. You will be prompted first for the ship to send to, then the message to send. Sending a message to ship number 9 causes the message to be broadcast to all active ships. % *J The 'J' command is used to jump instantly from one universe to another. This uses a great deal of energy, and is dangerous--if the ship comes out on an object in the destination universe, it may be damaged or, more likely, de- stroyed. The outcomes of collisions between the ship and other objects are: OBJECT RESULTS Other ship, freighter Both ships destroyed Starbase, star Ship destroyed Torpedo, homer Damage taken from hit Black hole Ship destroyed Hyperspace port Randomly relocated in some universe % *S 'S' allows you to adjust the energy directed to your ship's shields. Any pos- itive number adds energy to the shields, and negative number takes energy from the shields. % *R 'R' causes the display to be repainted. % *Q 'Q' asks you if you really want to quit. If so, bye-bye. If not, you will continue playing. %
