This version of WHO is intended for use with the TERCOM database, which is a small partition containing information about each logged-in terminal. A support package for the database is in [301,25]. In parti- cular, from the database we can quickly determine the LOGIN account name and login UIC for each terminal. If you do not wish to add the TERCOM package, you should continue to use the previous version of WHO. Note that the TERCOM package is a very convenient starting point for easily providing connect-time accounting or a MAIL capability (currently in development). The WHO command does the following: It allows any user, including non-priviledged ones, to determine the following: What tasks are running (not stopped) on CO: Which TT's (or VT's (=virtual terminals)) are logged in, What their login UIC or NAME is, indicated by or [UIC], What active tasks have that TT as their TI, Flags for many of those tasks to show their current state, in the following priority: / = checkpointed ? = waiting for terminal input * = I/O outstanding # = waiting for an event flag blank = no special flagged state (usually compute-bound) It does not lock out MCR activity, preferring instead to occasionally get the task state slightly stale. A reminder of the meaning of the flag characters may be gotten w/: WHO /HElp Questions or bugs to: Jim Neeland Hughes Research Labs 3011 Malibu Canyon Rd.
