REWind 1.0 Description REW is a program to rewind a magnetic tape drive without taking the drive offline. It is intended to be used as an MCR command only, similar to UFD. REW will initiate the drive rewind and then exit; although it has been observed with the MS driver that REW will not exit until the tape is done rewinding. I have not taken the time to figure out why. (The driver documentation says it should return from the QIO as soon as the rewind is initiated but not completely rewound. This is the case for the MT driver.) 2.0 Use The command structure for REWind can be either one of two formats: >REW [n] Where n is the tape drive unit number and is _ optional. REW will search for the first occurance of one of the following magnetic tape drives and then attempt to rewind it: MT, MS, MM, MF, DD. >REW dd[n][:] Where dd is the tape drive device mnemonic, n _ is the optional unit number and the colon is entirely optional.
