NEW CARD READER HANDLER TO ALL & SUNDRY: I HAVE WRITTEN A NEW CARD-READER HANDLER TO TAKE CARE OF INPUTS OF ASCII TEXT. IT WILL HANDLE ALL ASCII CODES AND SHOULD BE INSTALLED VIA THE FOLLOWING STEPS: 1. IF CR11.TSK IS ALREADY IN [3,30] OMIT THE NEXT STEPS AND GO TO THE INSTALL PHASES. 2. OTHERWISE GET A COPY OF [3,30]CRBR.MAC IN A UIC ON YOUR DISK FROM THE SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT AND INTERFACE TEST DISK [3,30] AREA AND A COPY OF CR11.CMD FROM THE SAME PLACE AND PUT ON YOUR DISK. 3. ASSEMBLE AS FOLLOWS: MAC CR=CRBR 4. TASK BUILD AS FOLLOWS: TKB @CR11.CMD 5. THIS IS THE INSTALLATION PROCEDURE. ASSUMING YOU BUILT TASK CR11.TSK USING CR11.CMD WHILE LOGGED IN AS [3,30]: TYPE THE FOLLOWING WHILE LOGGED IN [1,1]: UNL CR: REM CR.... UNL MT: LOA MT: DMO SY: FIX F11ACP MOU SY: UNF F11ACP INS [3,30]CR11 LOA CR: THE NEW CARD READER WILL NOT HANDLE BINARY (REASSEMBLE WITH A FILE CONTAINING THE LINE BINARY=0 TO PERMIT IT TO) BUT WHEN A CONTROL CARD WITH A MULTIPUNCH WITH COLUMNS 12,0,2,4, AND 8 IN COLUMN 1 IS PUT AHEAD OF THE DECK, THE HANDLER WILL TRANSLATE ALL CARD CODES TO THEIR ASCII EQUIVALENTS INCLUDING CR, LF AND OTHER SPECIAL CHARACTERS. WITHOUT THIS CONTROL CARD, THE HANDLER WILL ACT EXACTLY AS YOUR OLD ONE DID. THE CONTROL FEATURE SHOULD REMAIN SET ACROSS ENDFILES. NOTE THAT MOST 029 CODES ARE IDENTICAL TO ASCII CODES WHERE THE TWO OVERLAP. CARD MULTIPUNCHES THAT HAVE NO ASCII EQUIVALENTS ARE TRANSLATED TO NULLS (0) ON INPUT.
