The WHO command does the following: It allows any user, including non-priviledged ones, to determine the following: What tasks are running (not stopped) on CO: Which TT's (or VT's (=virtual terminals)) are logged in, What their login account is, What active tasks have that TT as their TI, Flags for many of those tasks to show their current state, in the following priority: / = checkpointed ? = waiting for terminal input * = I/O outstanding # = waiting for an event flag blank = no special flagged state (usually compute-bound) It does not lock out MCR activity, preferring instead to occasionally get the task state slightly stale.
