HP NetServer Agents 4.X Patch README.

This patch is recommended in order to fix any of the issues in section II below.
Please note this is not a complete installation of the HP NetServer Agents.

I. Purpose:

This patch has been released to correct several issues present
in the following releases of the Agents:

     Agents 4.50
     Agents 4.51
     Agents 4.52

II. Issues Corrected:

This patch addresses several issues with the NetServer Agents.

     SCSI Detail Agent:

     1. The ability to write information about disk drive usage to
a log page on the disk drive has been disabled for certain HP
drives. The NetRAID adapter was taking these drives offline
when the (infrequent) logging activity interfered with
ordinary drive activity. The affected drive firmware revisions
are SA30 and SA40. This is the result of a firmware issue in
the drives cache manager where it is improperly mixing Log
Page 32h data with Read/Write data.

        To verify the firmware revision:

Start -> Programs -> NetRAID -> NetRAID Assistant
             Click OK
Wait while it scans each SCSI bus/channel for drives
Double click on each of the physical drives
The firmware revision is displayed in the Physical Drive
                  Properties window

        Or

Start -> Control Panel -> SCSI Adapters
Double click on the appropriate adapter
Drive information will appear and the last portion is
                  the firmware revision:
             E.g., HP 4.26GB B 68-SA40

     2. A Dr. Watson error on SNMP was resulting in the SNMP service
to hang. This was caused by corrupted log page entries that
will be properly ignored by the SCSI Detail Agent.

     3. The ability to write information to drives connected to a Fiber
        Channel controller has been corrected.

     NetCitizen Agent:

     1. When accessing the TopTools Remote Control Card via Servers
under Device types certain menu options were not appearing
(i.e., related devices and power on/off). This was caused since
the NetCitizen Database was being inadvertently deleted when the
server was rebooted or the SNMP agent was started. The NetCitizen
Database defines the relationship between the server and other
        devices.

SCSI Detail Agent on RS/12 fiber channel clusters:

     1. The inability for the Quorom drive to fail over to the
        other node has been corrected.

III. Patch Version explanation:

When this patch is applied to one of the versions listed in Section I
it will modify the existing agents version by appending an "a" to the
end of the version string. For example: "Agents 4.50" will become
"Agents 4.50a". This patch will not modify the version string of any
version that is not listed in Section I. If the Agents Setup program
is executed again, the Agents version will revert back to the original
version, but the patch will still be active.
