The sub-directories under /pdf/univOfMichigan/mts/ contain PDFs for much
of the documentation associated with the Michigan Terminal System (MTS),
the time-sharing virtual memory operating system initially developed
in 1967 at the University of Michigan for use on IBM S/360-67 mainframe
computers. MTS was developed and used by a consortium of eight
universities in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom over a
period of 33 years (1967 to 1999) on S/370 and compatible mainframe
computers.

Included here are MTS Volumes, Computing Center Memos (ccmxxx),
Reference Memos (rxxxx), and internal documentation. The numerical order
of the volumes and memos does not necessarily reflect the chronological
order of their appearance; however, in general for the MTS volumes, the
higher the number, the more specialized the volume.

Copying and use of the MTS documentation is permitted for nonprofit,
educational use provided that
(1) each reproduction is done without alteration, and
(2) the volume, memo, or document reference and date of publication
are included.

Additional documentation related to MTS and programs that ran under MTS
may be found at:

It is somewhat misleading to place MTS documentation in directories
named for a single organization since the development of MTS was a
cooperative effort over many years by many people at the MTS
Consortium sites:

* University of Michigan (UM), USA
* University of British Columbia (UBC), Canada
* NUMAC (University of Newcastle upon Tyne, University of Durham,
and Newcastle Polytechnic), United Kingdom
